Subterranean palindromes



I love this. Weird Al Yankovic doing D. A. Pennebaker's film of Bob Dylan's 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' - completely in palindromes. I like to think Bob would approve.

Seeing the words presented didactically, I have the impression that Robert Zimmerman must have been in an exalted state of mind when he penned those lyrics. I prefer Dylan's poetry when the the elements of his discourse are more accessible, as in the magnificent Modern Times album.

William, the 'elements of his discourse'? Now that sounds like a Dylan line from about 1966!

One of the aspects of his work I treasure is that he has so many faces. Sniff around in the sixties stuff and you will find surrealism as well as direct, bald statements. Most of all it's deep, in the sense that the longer you look the deeper into a complete world-view you will get. It's a journey worth making.
